GroomTeam USA Places Second at Groomania
KORTRIJK, Belgium—GroomTeam USA took second place in the 2011 Groomania World Team Championship. Groomers from all over the globe converged in Kortrijk, Belgium, for the 2011 Groomania in September, including GroomTeam USA, which was defending its first-place win from 2009.
Throughout the year, groomers around the world compete for points that determine their place on their country’s team. Many of the U.S. groomers travel around the country to attend different grooming competitions and earn their points. It is a highly competitive group, and yet they are very much a close knit family.
“I have found that the grooming industry is filled with people who have big hearts,” said Chuck Simons, GroomTeam USA’s director of public relations. “They are always ready to help each other and learn from each other. Groomers are genuinely upbeat people and I find this to be true wherever I travel.”
The annual show, organized by Kitty Dekeersgieter and Darren Cooke of Transgroom, is first and foremost an educational conference with seminars and demos from the top professionals in the industry. Despite the fact that the show’s centerpiece is the international grooming competition, the real focus is on everyday grooming and the realities of running a professional pet styling salon.
Groomers can find everything they need to run their salons with product demos from the leading manufacturers. This is especially important to new groomers who need to find the right tools for the job.
And the winners of the Groomania competition were…
1. France—150 points
2. USA—142 points
